Daniel Trevarthen and co-driver Chris Ward have taken out the 2015 Targa High Country Sports Trophy title.
Driving a 2006 Holden Commodore SS, Trevarthen and Ward were untroubled on the final day, eventually crossing the finish line one minute 37 seconds clear.
Trevarthen was thrilled with the win.
“It feels absolutely fantastic,” Trevarthen said.
“I’ve never won a racing event before.
“We were just hoping to finish top ten. “The plan was to go hard early today and then be consistent and fast after that. We spun out in Jamieson and lost 17 seconds but the car was brilliant for the rest. We are absolutely ecstatic.”
The tussle for second at the start of the day was intense, with just three seconds between Martin Duursma and co-driver Nick Cox in a 2013 Lotus Exige S V6 and the team of Julian Page and Diane Ridway in their 2013 Audi TT RS Plus.
While they started the final day locked together. Duursma however, made his move on the 40.18km Jamieson stage, gaining a valuable 26 seconds on Page.
From that point on, the Page combination had troubles, with Duursma and Cox eventually finishing second, two minutes 55 seconds clear of their overnight rivals.
