Excitement ahead of Day 1

Dry and still conditions on top of Mount Buller greeted drivers as they made there way to the official start line as the sixth Targa High Country got underway this morning. We caught up with a few competitors to ask them how they were feeling ahead of Day 1.

David Bushby (TAS)/Brett Peterson (NSW) – 1995 BMW 540i                                                         David is competing in his first Targa High Country. “I have always had an interest in motor sport and after competing in Targa Hellyer Gorge earlier this year was keen to take part in Targa High Country. Having fun and finishing are my goals” the Tasmanian Liberal Senator said.

Roy Davis (Qld)/Colleen Davis (Qld) – 2009 Mitsubishi Evolution X                                                      “We have a brand new engine and the car is in great condition. As long as we keep it on the tarmac, we should be ok.”

Trevor Macleod (TAS)/Scott Hunter (TAS) – 2010 Subaru WRX STi Spec C                                      “The car is fantastic and pretty much handles itself. It’s really suited to Targa High Country and our expectations are certainly higher this year in terms of a good result.”

Brian Dermott (VIC)/Linda Dermott (VIC) – 1971 Holden Torana GTR XU-1                                                          Local Mansfield residents, they discovered these magnificent roads many years ago (the majority still dirt roads) and are thrilled about where Targa High Country has come.

“The comments we get from those who visit our region and take part is just wonderful. Commens such as where have these roads been hiding is a common. We see many return with their families for a more relaxed trip away from competition
