Jason White remains involved in the 29th running of TARGA Tasmania despite being eliminated from the event on Day 2 when he crashed heavily.
White is offering support to current overall leader and fellow Dodge Viper driver Ed Maguire and his co-driver Zak Brakey.
The seven-times TARGA Tasmania champion is also helping out Steve Maguire (Ed’s brother) and his co-driver Stuart Benson (2011 Mitsubishi Evo X).
White says Ed Maguire should have enough tyres left come the final leg on Saturday to help secure his maiden TARGA Tasmania victory.
“We are following the event around. We still have mates in the event. One of my crew and myself are cruising around with plenty of spare Viper bits and pieces,” White said.
“So we are out helping Eddie and his brother Steve (running a 2011 Mitsubishi Evo X with co-driver Stuart Benson) and anyone else who needs help.
“We have a different tyre choice which we tried to implement for Ed’s car as well but the tyres didn’t arrive in time.
“So he was stuck with the tyre choice we had the last few years which haven’t been ideal.
“For him its just a matter of taking care of the tyres. As long as he can start the last day with enough tyres to punch on pretty hard, I don’t see it being too much of a problem for him.
“His form in the wet was good enough not to be dropping time yesterday.
“A little bit of damp but as we proved yesterday no lying water would be the ideal conditions for him.”
