Third placed David Gilliver in a Ferrari 308, has taken out the opening stage on Day 5 of Targa Tasmania in Shannons Classic, and in the process reduced the margin to Richard Woodward in a Holden Monaro, who sits second, to just two seconds.

Peter Ullrich finished the stage third fastest, and maintains an advantage of just over five minutes.
